Description
DOGLIANI, is one of the most widespread vines in Piedmont, produced from Dolcetto grapes even if its name is not related to the taste of the wine.
The origin of the name comes from the Piedmontese dialect term ‘dosset‘. This can have different interpretations such as ‘sweet’ which refers to the high sugar concentration typical of Dolcetto grapes or ‘soft’ which can refer to the low acidity of its wines and the sensation of softness they generate on the palate. Although by many it is translated as ‘soft and gentle hills‘, the distinctive feature of the Piedmontese territory of the Langhe, i.e. where the grape variety originated.
A ruby red, velvety and fruity wine that leaves a slightly bitter aftertaste, all in perfect harmony.
DOGLIANI is ideal with hors d’oeuvres based on cured meats, first courses (such as the traditional Langhe tajarin with truffle or ragout, agnolotti al plin or a classic baked pasta dish), white and red meats such as Piedmontese Fassona beef, or with mature cheeses.
